Our lab currently has 2–3 fully funded PhD positions available in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston. We welcome highly motivated students interested in interdisciplinary research at the interface of bioelectronics, biomedical engineering, sensing, neuromodulation, and biomaterials.

PhD Position:

We are particularly interested in applicants with strong hands-on research experience in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Bioelectronics, Embedded Systems, and Intelligent Sensing

  • Circuit and PCB design

  • Embedded systems and microcontrollers

  • Wireless electronics and instrumentation

  • Physiological signal acquisition and processing

  • Machine learning/AI and closed-loop control

  • Biomedical devices and neuromodulation systems

  1. Soft stretchable electronics, and tissue interfaces

  • Flexible/stretchable electronics

  • Wearable or implantable sensors

  • Device fabrication and characterization

  • Soft materials and functional materials

  • Microfabrication and biomedical sensor integration

  1. Biomedical Engineering and In Vivo Research (Candidates with substantial hands-on animal research experience are particularly encouraged to apply)

  • Physiology and neural engineering

  • Biomedical instrumentation and physiological measurements

  • Hands-on small-animal experimentation

  • Animal surgery, anesthesia, physiological monitoring, electrophysiology, tissue collection, or related in vivo techniques

  • Tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and biomaterials

Applicants with B.S. or M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Bioengineering, or related fields are welcome. Prospective students may contact Prof. Zhengwei Li at zli65@central.uh.edu . Please include:
